No, no this “sub”, but feddiverse in general. I keep getting banned from some places for no reason, no insults, no replies or not obeying the rules… Mods have too much power.

The whole system is flawed, nobody should be able to ban anyone unless they do something actually terrible like pure hate speech or asking for horrible stuff. I guess asking for a forum system place without the cringe of Tumblr is impossible.

Find an instance with lax admin rules, make your own communities where you don’t ban anyone for anything except “something actually terrible like pure hate speech or asking for horrible stuff” and appoint only mods who think the same approach is the right direction to take.

Mods have all the power over their communities, that’s the same everywhere. The Fediverse has the advantage that multiple communities can exist and you can choose which to use.

You say that you get banned for “no reason”, using a new account without any history. Tell us your usernames which got banned and show us that you got banned for “no reason”. Every instance has a modlog, in which everyone can see the reasons for your ban. Using a fresh account doesn’t exactly raise your trustworthiness.

Do you think Reddit or any other social media is better than Lemmy? This network has the power of decentralisation, so if you always get banned from everywhere, create your own instance or community or search for an instance that will tolerate or accept your views and mannerisms. That is the power of the Fediverse.

You may also want to understand that the Fediverse is mostly used by inclusive and socially progressive people, which may be in conflict with your views, but I can’t check that if you use a fresh account.

Why should I do that? I’m using a new account because I got banned, duh. Otherwise I wouldn’t bother. And I don’t wanna create my own place, What’s the point of creating a new place when there’s no one there?

I don’t follow any political side. Fuck all of them. I’m nobody’s friend or enemy.

If you use a new account because you got banned, just write your old username into the post, which isn’t hard. The fact that you use a new account isn’t the problem, but that you didn’t give us any context, such as your old username(s).

The Europeans colonised America, even when there was “no one” (in this case Europeans) there. There’s always a beginning. If you don’t want to create an instance, then join one. There are many instances which you may like, you just have to look: https://join-lemmy.org/. If you get banned from every one of them, you may want to reconsider your posting habits or leave for another social media network.

Anyone who runs a community or their own server SHOULD be able to ban anyone they want. That’s one of the biggest selling points of the fediverse for me. Don’t like how reddit and it’s communities are run? That kinda sucks since there’s not much of an alternative there. Don’t like lemmy.world? Go over to beehaw then. Make whatever subs you miss over there and ban those who try to ruin it for you

They absolutely can without reason. The admins own their servers. Just like a person owns a house. If I don’t want you in my house I don’t have to give you a reason as I kick you out. All that being said, I highly doubt you are being kicked out of multiple instances for no reason.

No instance and no mod has the obligation to let you participate on their instance (as long as you don’t pay them or similar, which you don’t). You are expecting random people who run an instance themselves to tolerate you, which they don’t have to. It’s just like visiting someone’s house. As long as you are inside their house, they can impose rules on you such as “no politics” or “be nice to everyone”. If you don’t follow these rules, they may throw you out. A commercial entity, such as Twitter, Reddit or Walmart won’t ban you for saying something unpopular, but they will if you hurt someone. You can’t expect a private entity to follow your rules.

Creating a new account on Reddit is ban evasion, so it’s not a wonder that you get banned using the same IP and device as the other banned users. Personally I wonder what you did to get blacklisted on Reddit, which contains some pretty vile communities.

Getting blacklisted means that you aren’t welcome on the platform. Maybe you broke some rule in the ToS or someone at Reddit just doesn’t like you. If you think that the ban was unfounded, you have to argue with Reddit’s support or leave for another service. There are some social media networks which are very open in terms of content and behaviour.

It may be true that you got banned for ridiculous reasons, I have no way of determining that, except by hacking your used instance and Reddit, comparing IPs and other identifiers and identifying your accounts, but that’s too much work and illegal. Or you can provide the account, but that probably won’t help much anyway, as I don’t have easy access to Reddit myself, because of different reasons.

I don’t think that everyone that gets banned is a racist/terrorist/🌈 hater hybrid. I also didn’t say that you have done that. The ToS encompass much more that just hate speech, you may have started a DDos for example, I don’t know.

Of course Reddit doesn’t just let you onto their platform again. You may have a chance to get unbanned if you talk to their support, but a permanent ban often stays permanent.

I agree with your “fuck them”, but for different reasons.

Ban evasion is a bannable offense. That’s the rule you keep breaking. Also you can look at the mod log to see why you get banned. The reasons for you have been “trolling” and “incel shit” which are very deserved based on your posting history.

You can look at a lot of the posts, although some have since been deleted either by mods or by OP trying to evade detection. Some of these accounts appear to have zero posts, but if you look at the comment history you can see what the title was and that the account was the OP of that post. And you can sometimes guess what the exchange was based on what you can see.

            Rule 1 on !asklemmy@lemmy.world

Doxxing, trolling, sealioning, racism, and toxicity are not welcomed in AskLemmy. Remember what your mother said: if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all.

Toxicity and trolling. So for example posting incel shit or about how depressed you are, and then telling people they are wrong when they tell you you need therapy, saying that all women just want one type of guy, etc.

A little constructive criticism here, anyone who has a good grasp on what they’re doing is seldom going to be remembered using the term “sealioning” unironically, both due to its vagueness and for the idea behind it. Everyone I’ve seen use it is the type to go on to engage in indiscriminate mobbing. When people talk to the highest people of authority, they’re actually going to encourage (as per protocol) inquiries that would fall under the label. Sorry, some very bad history is connected to it.

I’m just copy pasting the rule from that muni. Talk to them if you disagree with their semantics. It’s not the part of the rule I’m focusing on anyway.

FWIW I agree with you. Too often that term is used to invalidate legitimate exchange of ideas and debate.

Every server has a level of tolerance for certain, I’ll call them “antisocial”, attitudes on their forums. By expressing antisocial attitudes, I mean saying stuff that makes people not want to hang out and discuss in the online space, even if not pure hate speech or horrible stuff. When you converse in those forums, you have to follow both your home instance and the destination instance’s rules. You know how you need to express yourself differently between your BFFs, your romantic partner, your parents, strangers at a bar, strangers on a bus, your work colleagues or your boss? Same thing here. If you need earnest advice, here’s some:

    • Using nicknames like “Fuckers” and “Hate” is already not a good start as that is itself a wilful expression of negativity. Try a more neutral or positive one: BlueFlower, TeaStamp, HoundRoad, it doesn’t matter. You can also change the nick of accounts you’d already previously created.
    • Read the modlog for why that account got banned, read the cited rule. Check if you were banned from your home site, remote site or a specific community and read those site rules. If you want to participate in that specific server, you need to change your behaviour, not the mod(s) that banned you.
    • If you try to circumvent bans with new accounts, you can be banned without explanation. Don’t do that.
    • Try not to post in succession about a single lewd or contentious topic as if you had an obsession with it, especially in communities that aren’t specifically about that.
    • Try to be more careful when you’re on a new account, you are more likely to be accused of being a troll or hack on political threads, and a spammer if you just start posting a torrent of stuff right after signing up. There’s no global karma system but there is the idea of rep that you get with account age that lets you say slightly more controversial things, that’s up to the discretion of every moderator and reported violations can still get a longtimer banned just the same as a newcomer.
    • I’m not saying that this is necessarily how you acted, but you will see more success if you can, in general, talk to people like someone who’s not a jerk.

If you think these rules of talking to other people online on the Fediverse are ridiculous, you are welcome to make your own Lemmy, Kbin, Piefed, or whatever instance (with blackjack and hookers), and set the rules within your own communities yourself.

Ok, well then I’ll speak plainly. It’s a dick move to get snarky and sarcastic to a person that is offering a suggestion to try and help you improve your experience on here. If you don’t want people to try and help you improve your experience, that’s fine. But if you maintain a combative attitude, you’re going to keep getting banned. Also making a new account after getting banned is ban evasion which can also get you a ban. And not a “wait a few days ban” they can ban your IP

Seems you created a new account just for this post, leaving us without the ability to look into what happened in the past and no evidence of your own for the claims made. You might have a point, but you could also just be a jerk.

Mods and admins are the people responsible for upholding rules and stopping hate speech, with the assistance of the community. How should they do this without the power to silence violent voices and rule-breakers? Actual question, moderation is a complex social system.

If you genuinely believe you have been banned for no reason, please reach out to people capable of helping you with all relevant information, assuming you haven’t done so already.

If you were a jerk, consider good ol’ self reflection.

A new account is literally easier than making a Facebook account dude.

Alright, so it’s still extra work, and you didn’t engage with anything else I said.

You either need to take a break, are unwilling to self-reflect, or are a troll.

Because nothing of what you said seemed useful for me. How that makes me a troll?

They didn’t call you a troll, they said you either need to take a break, are unwilling to self-reflect, or are a troll. At least one of those things (but probably multiple) is definitely true.

Yeah but making a new personality isn’t easy. So you reveal yourself right away and then get banned. If you don’t want to get banned, try not being so obviously the same person.

I’m also pretty sure this is the troll who keeps posting the same meme. Can’t say for sure, but if so the pattern has gone on for a couple of days

        1. make account with username expressing frustration or something horrible
        2. post a meme they insist is funny, but is immediately down voted to hell because they think racism/feminism/something legitimate is funny
        3. mods take notice, and ban them appropriately for violating rules
        4. repeat

We’re at the stage now where they are whining saying people treat them bad. Yeah man, because you have shit views. What you and your tiny group thought was funny may not actually be funny, but really horrible. How else can we be clearer? You can have your shit views, but that doesn’t mean we are forced to interact with you. This was a choice you made, to behave this way. Your choices have consequences, and in this case it means that you are banned. repeatedly.

If you find yourself constantly surrounded by assholes, there’s a very high chance that you are in fact the asshole.
